Stoughton LIFE TEEN joins the entire nation and the world in expressing deep sorrow over the catastrophic effects that Hurricane Katrina has caused to the gulf coast states and their people.  We also recognize the great need for assistance during this dark time for thousands of our brothers and sister who live in the areas most affected by this natural disaster.

Therefore, Stoughton LIFE TEEN announces that a second collection will be taken at LIFE TEEN Mass on September 18th and 25th to aide those who are in need.  The money will be donated to Catholic Charities USA.

Linda Pane, interim coordinator of Stoughton LIFE TEEN, is helping to spearhead a charity effort for her company and is seeking goods and monetary donations for those seriously affected by Hurricane Katrina.  Teens attending the LIFE TEEN Lounge on September 7th are asked to help by donating either money or goods to this cause.  Monetary donations will be given to the American Red Cross. 

Immediate needs include:
§         Baby food,  formula (in unbreakable containers) and diapers
§         Warm weather clothing such as T-Shirts, Shorts, etc.
§         Underwear (men’s, women’s and children’s)
§         Blankets & Pillows
§         Coloring books & crayons for kids

Stoughton LIFE TEEN is also in the midst of planning a charity event for teens in which all proceeds will benefit those affected by Hurricane Katrina.  Please continue to check this website for more information about this event.

Lastly, we stress that the most important thing that we can all do is pray for the survivors of this tragedy, for those who have lost family and friends, and for all those brave people who are coming to the aid of those in danger that God will grant them peace and perseverance during these painful events.
