Preparations for World Youth Day 2008 Begin! (UPDATED 03/09/2007)
On Palm Sunday, Benedict XVI sent a towering wooden pilgrim's cross on a two-year, cross-continental journey that will conclude in Sydney in 2008 with the promise he would be in Australia to celebrate World Youth Day.
Stoughton LIFE TEEN participated in World Youth Day 2000 in Rome, Italy and last participated in World Youth Day 2002 in Toronto, Canada. Those who participated in these events were truly changed through the experience of the universal church, the strong faith shown by their peers young and old, and the powerful words of John Paul the Great.
It is with great excitement that Stoughton LIFE TEEN announces its intention to join with hundreds of thousands from all over the world in a celebration of faith that will exceed even the gathering for the World Olympic Games in Sydney back in 2000.
Although it is still early, teens are invited and encouraged to start contemplating on World Youth Day 2008. The official World Youth Day 2008 website is up and running at www.wyd2008.org. Visit this site to learn more about World Youth Day, including WYD 2008's theme and logo, and to sign up for ‘ePILGRIMAGE’, a monthly newsletter which includes a message from Bishop Anthony Fisher OP (coordinator for WYD 2008), catechesis on a theme delineated from the WYD theme of the year, WYD testimonies from young people, prayers, selected readings, lives of the saints, an e-visit to a place of pilgrimage and other information which will prepare and encourage you to plan for your trip to Sydney.
