Stoughton Life Teen Responds to Earthquake in Haiti
The images and reports coming in from Haiti since a catastrophic earthquake hit the country on January 12th have been stunning and deeply saddening. Thousands of people are feared lost and millions are in desperate need for medical treatment and basic provisions in a country that was already considered one of most impoverished in the world. Our Archbishop of Boston, Cardinal Sean O'Malley, in a statement to the archdiocese, has called on parishes to take up a second collection at masses to support the relief efforts in Haiti. Stoughton Life Teen will be answering the call of our shepard to care for our brothers and sisters by taking up second collections at Life Teen Mass beginning Sunday, January 17 and possibly continuing for several weeks after that. All donations made will be sent to Catholic Relief Services. CRS will coordinate with local and international agencies to determine how best to provide help where it is most needed.
Those who wish to donate online to the Haitian relief effort may do so through the following reputable agencies:
Catholic Relief Services
American Red Cross
In the midst of our semester on Social Justice here at Life Teen, we are again reminded of our call to care for our brothers and sisters who find themselves right now in their darkest hours. We continue to pray that God would pour out His infinite mercy on all those affected by this tragedy.
